Mommy and Daddy room-in!!!

Saturday night Ryan and I slept at the hospital, what they call "rooming-in". We got to the hospital around 3:00 in the afternoon to learn the basics: how to use equipment, how to make her formula, how to give a vitamin, etc. Around 5:00 p.m. they moved us to a hospital room where we remained all night just the 3 of us. This is a common practice the hospital offers to new parents or parents of NICU babies, since caring for a premature infant is quite different. It was nice to finally get to feed Brooke consistently. I slept a total of 2.5 hours mainly because I woke up at every little noise she made :)  Ryan and I made a good team feeding her and changing some really fun diapers :)!

Brooke is now on 0.02 of oxygen (literally this is like a puff of air) which is the only reason she is still in the NICU. The doctors say she just needs a little bit more time for her lungs to develop. Brooke is now 36.5 weeks so we have to remeber while she is not home she should still be in my tummy. Her weight has increased to 5lb 14 oz!!! She is getting so big!! Doctors are going to trial taking her off oxygen today so we shall see...
