So a few weeks ago we headed to Memphis for BBQ FEST!!! This use to be one of my favorite events in Memphis! It was bittersweet for me because I was introduced to the fun of BBQ fest by my dear friend Stefan Utevsky who passed away 5 years ago. My family now has a team and BBQ fest never disappoints. BBQ fest is part of Memphis in May where they honor a country each year and it is right on the river. This year the country was Russia. BBQ fest is a party for 4 days but is also a serious cooking competition. My family and friends team is called Full Moon Smokers and they enter in the ribs category of the competition. There are also many other categories they enter including exotic, wings, sauce, chicken and decorations. Last year they won 1st place in exotic and 109 out of 125 in ribs. This year they moved to 33 out 125 for ribs...Jacob (the grill master) did awesome job learning throughout the year. So glad we got to go this year and can't wait for next year!
